Hanging out with a Manatee

28 Sep

One of the coolest creatures under the ocean is the manatee. I recently got a chance to hang out with some of these gentle giants. It was a great time. There colors are so much more interesting than a simple light gray. They actually have a light blue base mixed with gray and some green. I then decided to paint one of my new friends.

The Princess Who Became a Pirate

9 Sep

So, you’ve got a good life.  You are royalty and have anything you could wish for, so why would you leave everything and become a pirate.  Just like the title says, you are not a king or prince or a queen, but a princess.  Princesses are supposed to be happy living in some Disney story.  Not this Princess; she left it all and became a pirate, not only a pirate, but a pirate captain.  The most amazing part of this story is that it is believed to be true.

The story begins somewhere between the 5th and 12th century in what is now modern day Sweden.  The princess was being forced to marry.  She wanted nothing to do with that.  She wanted to marry when and to whom ever she wanted.    The king and queen would have none of that, so the princess left.

After a while, she gathered a crew and they started to sail the waters around the kingdom.  When she would see a royal merchant ship, she would attack it.  The princess was now a pirate.

The prince was in charge of the navy and decided to take these pirates head on himself.  The prince chased after the pirate until he eventually caught her ship. The pirate, who by this time was doing really well for herself, admired the cunning of the prince.

Once she was brought to the prince, she instantly fell in love with him. The prince recognized her as the princess, the princess that he was supposed to marry but who had left the court.  He proposed to her, they got married, and they would become king and queen.  The princess was known as Princess Alwida.
